1. Not much snow
Looks beautiful but I would expect it to be a little whiter this time of year.

5. That's all the snow we got.
It was the warmest winter ever, even it's the South. Usually we get a few days/weeks of snow, but not this year.

51. Ugly Mess?
In America it's not a mess until you have more than three rusty old cars and trucks, a falling down shack, old unused outhouses housing large accumulations of pornographic magazines, a couple of dead motorcycles, tractors, and snowmobiles, a few dead animals covered with flies, a pile of random trash mixed with stuff that didn't burn the first time you poured gasoline on it and tried to light it, beer cans and bottles you hope to redeem someday when you are not too drunk to drive into town, a couple of pit bulls, a skinny mean horse or two, an angry covey of grotesque maimed fighting cocks that you meant to breed but the coyotes ate all your hens, cats with kinked tails, mishapen faces, and a weird numbers of toes, laundry hanging on the fence because the clothes dryer is broken or the gas and power is turned off, an old refrigerator, a couple of televisions and old water heaters that you shoot at, and a lady with no teeth and no pants high on meth pounding on the door and screaming at the top of her lungs that she is going to kill you fucker.

79. Argh! Mrs R's sister and her husband live next to the Achensee in Austria, so they have a
similar view. I'm insanely jealous of both them and you.

80. Austria has some gorgeous places.
And now that I revived my old tripod, I'll see what I can get out of my Nikon D50 - I haven't done night shots yet, and I fear this won't go at all. Can't they just make my old F2 digital?

As I said before, these pics are combined from three different exposed pics. :hi:

81. "Merge to HDR" in Photoshop? I haven't tried that yet. Hey, don't throw your F2 out,
just buy a film scanner. I still use Velvia in a Century Graphic (or the Canon EOS-3) when I shoot landscapes; the digital files from the 10D just don't get the job done, even when shooting in RAW format.

And digital or not, it's always been my rule to use a tripod unless I can't.

85. The PS plug-in is pretty useless for HDR.
I use Photomatix Pro for it.

And I do have a film scanner, bought one a few weeks ago and am still trying to get it right.

I have one lens I can use with the Nikon D50, but I do so miss my 85mm/1.2 and 180mm/1.4. Mostly, back in my 'professional' days, I used these and my 35mm. Landscapes are somewhat new to me, but I have a few I'm still trying to get them right.

I haven't used a camera in years, and had a digital Olympus for just doing some snapshots. I spent too much time in darkrooms, and now I'm somewhat frustrated that the old pics I have don't do well in my film scanner. :hi:

92. I firmly believe that the best lens ever made was the Nikkor 105, back in the
1970s. (Yes, I'm old.) Or the SMC Takumar 50mm 1.8 of the same vintage (I was a Pentax guy back then).

Both of those lenses were tack-sharp in a way I haven't seen since.

Enjoying their holidays so much they sit right next to the street to eat (grilled stuff), when a car drives by on this dusty road, producing a big cloud of dirt. ;)

I grew up in a different place, but there was always a lake and some distant hills. I don't know why, but I always liked the view of a lake and the shore on the other side - somewhat reminding me of different possibilities. :hi:

It's gorgeous, but no, I don't envy you (only maybe just a very little). I'm happy as can be in our house and I have a gorgeous view, too, small-neweurope scale gorgeous: meadow, birch trees, pines, no neighbors (well, out of two windows one COULD see MacDonald's and Burger-King if one wanted, but who wants to?).

But you really do live in a very, very beautiful spot. Thanks for sharing!
