We're going to have our quarterly, mandatory, All-Store Meeting on Sunday before we open. It's not too bad...they pay us, we get free food and I'd be up at that time of the morning anyway.
Today I asked the store manager if I could present a three-minute class at the meeting.
"What do you want to teach?"
How to plug a reach truck in, said I. Everyone started laughing..."they're leaving them dead again, huh?"
No...they're plugging the charger into the machine, not the battery, and if someone tries to turn the machine on with the charger hooked where the battery should be, which is possible if you park close enough to the charger and approach the machine from the back, it's going to blow all three computers, cost us $20,000 to fix (three hand-made computers at five thousand dollars each, plus paying a rollback driver to make two round-trips to Raleigh, plus the labor to completely tear apart the truck to reach the computer on the right side) and take two weeks to accomplish because you've got to wait for them to make the parts and get them through Customs because they come from Canada.
No more laughing. "How could anyone be that STUPID?"
