I should clarify: I don't want any stinking companies messing with my food. Based on corporations track records with better living through chemicals in your food, I seriously doubt that their genetically engineering my food is going to produce a net increase in the quality of my food nor in the viability of the food chain. The corporations would however love to control the food chain. Genetic modification is a great way to patent food. Based on the behavior I've seen already, like Monsanto's attempt to make it illegal to sell Milk that stated is was not BGH, and corporate pushes to privatize water, I doubt patented food would go over all that great. I just don't find GE food a particularly defensible position.
