Have you seen the talking system boards yet? A tech of mine was out doing a repair on a HP workstation and she said the replacement system board she installed in this machine actually spoke to her and told her the memory was bad.
That is pretty sweet and this could be a good thing for end-users too.

It was very helpful when building my current computer, I too had a bad memory module so it wouldn't boot but after I plugged in the speakers it told me about the problem. Luckily , you can change the messages and the voice and most importantly you can turn it off.

My old MSI board used to do that - thank god the "feature" was disabled in the second BIOS version. It was barely understandable and began speaking half-words even if everything was OK. I like the POST LEDs they supply now much better.
