One of these, but used enough not to cost more than our house did: http://www.mbusa.com/models/main.do?modelCode=SL600R

Sure, it's got 500 something horses and does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and it looks pretty cool, but it gets 13 MPG.

13.

That's what the Hummer H1 got, but it didn't take premium.

Please, for the love of all that's holy, could somebody please get my Mom to fess up and admit I'm really the offspring of the mailman?

1. I suggest you slap him around the room a few times
and then get rough and kick his ass.

And if he still gets it call me so I can take it for a test spin.

2. But it's sooo cool and FAST!!!!
I want one!!!!

Of course, I drive the Freep Mobile, which gets a lovely 16mpg. I'm buying a yellow ribbon for it this week.

6. Yeah, but we're rebuilding the 'vette
As wasteful death traps go, it's my favorite thing on four wheels. :loveya:

This is what it'll look like once it's repainted and spiffy.

Except it's going to have a red gloss to it so it has kind of cherry cola effect.

10. They're not too spendy, as old death trap cars go.
You can get a good one for 5 grand ish, 10 for a well cared for one with engine upgrades and stuff.

3. It is pretty
But too costly to acquire and operate.

8. That's what I think.
And he already has a Harley and a Corvette, and my sister has the v8 version of that car. We do not need another impractical car, nor to we have garage space for three theftbait cars and a motorcycle.

12. Maybe you could hook him on Bubble Cars
He's apparently explored the Asphalt Elephant end of the spectrum.
(I love elephants too, but it's over - I can't afford the operating costs)
Point out that Messerschmidt that Cousin Itt Drives.
The Two guys in the "we" commercial have a nice ride.
And the backward bubble car chase in the Da vinci code is the best part of the flick!
tell him..that chicks dig bubble cards.
Indeed the only car I've ever owned that even drew comments from the ladies was my Super Beetle.

14. My Dad is not a small guy. Not really fat, just generally big in a aging football player kind of way
I don't think I'd have any luck talking him into a small car, he had a civic once and watching him unfold in and out of it was pretty painful, and he only managed to fit in it height-wise because of the moonroof, his head would be touching the glass. :)

Seems a little extreme...

7. Oh no, a used one.
Since it's a high end European car, used is a bare fraction of new. Buying one new is definitely piling up a big wad of money and lighting it on fire. Still, it's a fair chunk of change for a car.

11. 612 foot-pounds of torque
over a 1,600-RPM curve that starts at 1,900 RPM?!?!?

I don't care what it costs. That's freakin' nasty.

13. I shudder to think.
My sister has the low end version of the same car and it's already ridiculously overpowered, with a V8 moving a little two seater.

16. You don't have to use it
Just knowing it's there is what it's about.

The coolest thing to a gearhead isn't beating the punks who think they've got something fast, but just laughing at them when they challenge you.

Dog, how I do love massive acceleration. It's one of the reasons I'll never be Lib'rul of the Year.

17. My Dad used to have fun with those kids when he had the Impala.
Of course these days street racing with two (probably unbuckled) kids in the car would be a great way to lose both the car and the kids. Can't have any fun at all anymore. ;)

18. I know
They outlawed cruising in Salinas in... I guess around 1984. Same with a lotta towns in Kollyforniya.

Christ, I heard recently they even stopped the annual Graffiti Night in Modesto. That's just sacrilege. :grr:

Ah, but we know where there's still a good cruise, huh?
