Does anybody else have the flu?
Edited on Sat Mar-03-07 09:32 AM by Lasher
Poor me. Boo hoo, nobody cares. :-(

And yes, I did get a flu shot.

Last night in bed I felt like I was freezing but Mrs. Lasher said it felt like I was on fire when she touched me. She used to say that she felt like she was on fire when she touched me but that was a long time ago.

This sucks.

2. Thanks malta
Mrs Lasher takes good care of me. I started taking Tamiflu early so maybe it won't last long. I think this has been going around and was wondering how widespread it is. Maybe folks will jump in to let us know.

Have a nice weekend.

3. Oh no, Lasher-
I'm so sorry to hear that you have the flu and are feeling poorly. My best friend called last night to say that he also has the flu. I hope it doesn't last long and you are feeling like your old self soon!

4. Thanks for the kind thoughts. Makes me feel better already.
It sure helps to know people care. :)

I'm feeling a little better today than I did yesterday. I hope the Tamiflu is kicking in.

5. Had it and finally
it left. If you have the one that drags on and on - just know it will end!
Best wishes to you because it really does suck.

Lasher. I think everyone here can empathise at how awful the flu is.

I woke up with a cold yesterday; today it feels like my head is going to explode. x(

We can commiserate. :pals:

9. Thanks for the hug but don't get too close. I don't want you to catch this.
I shared some links downthread. I'm hoping you might find them helpful in doing a little self-diagnosis. Sorry about your widdle noggin hurting. :( Hope that's all better by now. :-)

7. I have some kind of creeping crud
I don't think it's at the level of the flu yet, because I haven't done any throwing up. Sorry if that is TMI. But every thing aches and I've coughed for like 48 hours in a row. :(

8. I don't want to come across like Catkiller or anything but...
if everything aches there's a good chance it's the flu and not a cold. I looked up a comparison of cold and flu symptoms here. As you can see there at WebMD, general aches and pains are usual and often severe with the flu but slight with a cold. I have had aching, particularly in my legs. You have nausea with a stomach flu but not with the regular flu according to this flowchart. I haven't hurled any.

And check it out, chest discomfort and a caugh are common with the flu and can become severe. I haven't been caughing much but I'm sorry that's a big problem in your case. I have had the runniest nose I've ever had in my life. Yesterday Mrs. Lasher dumped out all the tissues I had thrown in the wastebaskets and there was a bushel. I don't know where all that snot was coming from. Sorry, yuck. I guess that's TMI too but it's good to compare symptoms. We might help one another. Anyway that evolved into congestion in my chest so I took a decongestant which helped a lot.

But the thing that made me pretty sure I had the flu was my high temperature. This is characteristic with the flu and rare with a cold. And like I said upthread, I would have spells where I would feel like I was freezing to death, buy Mrs. Lasher said when she touched me it felt like I was burning up. Then after about an hour of that I started throwing off the extra blankets she put on me because I started feeling hot. I've had two spells like that but none last night.

I'm hoping the Tamiflu is starting to work since I rested well last night and I feel a little better now. But for Tamiflu to have a chance to help you have to start taking it within a couple of days after you first start having symptoms.

Thanks for your response. Folks are nice here in the lounge. Sometimes not so nice in GD - especially lately. :scared:

11. I'm happy for you.
I'm better today. I think the Tamiflu will help me break out of this. Stop hugging me! You could catch what I've got. Hug me later when I'm not contagious. :)

The only thing that made me feel good was a steaming hot bath - on Tuesday I took 8 of them.

13. Take a steamy shower and breathe deeply
Then bundle up and stay warm in bed or on sofa and let yourself sleep a lot so your body can use its energy to battle the virus.
I hope you feel better!
My son just got over it pretty fast but had a cough for a couple of days.

17. I've been hacking my lungs up for three weeks and
the damn thing seems to be gearing up and getting worse again. And I had a flu shot. I also was sick in December to the point of laryngitis. For me, the flu shot has been worthless this season.

I hope you feel better soon, Lasher.
