Good tip for movers?
For 5 movers working a 10 hour day (including travel time between homes), is $100 a good tip (in total) for the 5 of them?

4. It's a good tip.
But you may want to consider springing for lunch or drinks, especially if you have multiple stories or awkward furniture or are asking for anything other than moving things out. (like cleaning or moving things around a lot).

It's not that you haven't already paid, but they'll work more efficiently and safely if you make it easier for them.

7. Sounds like you did the right thing.
I've always lived on top floors and have oversized furniture, so I try to tip more than I would if I had lived on the first floor.

The last time I moved out to sublet my condo during the summer, the movers told me that it was nice that I let them use my bathroom and offered them water. Apparently, lots of people would rather the movers be weakened by dehydration or distracted by needing to use the bathroom. :eyes:

10. maybe they're Republicans?
Expecting the movers to not need water or food. Just faceless worker drones to them...

But, we're also moving from one colonial-style home to another. So, at least they don't have to worry about carrying a piano up 10 flights or anything like that.

11. That's what it will work out to
They are going to finish up on Monday, but they said it would be a 3 person job for 2-3 hours (they could not fit all of our old home into their one truck - I feel so John Edwards-like now!)

15. I might give them more, if they were particularly good...
...When I went on deployment in 2003, I moved all of our stuff into storage. The two guys who moved me (over a 2 day period) were very good, and took a little extra time with things (packing the Plasma, entertainment center, computer stuff, etc) that needed it. I gave them each $50.00.
