Don't forget--total eclipse of the moon going on right now!
The moon is now rising, partially eclipsed, over Georgia. Can't wait till it starts to turn red. Hope it doesn't cloud over first.

1. Sorry - totality has already happened
It's going to get back to a normal full moon in the next couple of hours.

5. The story I'd read (online Atlanta or Athens newspaper?)...
just mentioned that the eclipse would start sometime in the neighborhood of 5 and that it would already be underway when the moon rose after 7...I was thinking that that time frame wasn't right, that it would be farther along than "already started". It's still cool though.

8. Everything online is in Universal Time. I never remember
if I have to subtract 5 or 6, which is for standard and which is for daylight savings....

4. Actually, it's just about to stop
...
We missed it completely here in central time even with crystal clear skies.

6. Yep! I can see it out my window while I'm typing. So far, no colors though.
All I can see is the beginning of the shadow at the upper right corner.

7. It's just a theory.

There were too many clouds in northern Virginia to see it. Now that the moon is emerging from the sun's shadow, it can be seen through the clouds. During totality, it was too dark to be visible.
