Do Vegans eat honey?
Or is that against their beliefs?

10. No. There are humane ways to get them to leave an area without killing them
But then, I've never had cockroaches, so it's never been an issue. Maybe if I had them, I'd feel differently. So far, so good.

Not fun.

17. I don't think they will
I have cats and we occasionally get these woodroaches in our house and they just stare at them.

in the woods. And yes, I'd get them to crawl up on a piece of cardboard or newspaper and take 'em outside.

Not sure the cats could have eaten 'em, they were the size of Buicks!

3. Honey isn't vegan.
It can't be harvested without killing bees.

26. The modern Langstroth hive allows honey extraction without
destruction of the bees. The frames in which the honey is stored are removed from the hive supers; the honey extracted from the frames and the frames returned to the hives. The honey removed is excess to what the bees will require and depending the time of year the surplus will be recovered quickly. Now yes, a few bees (maybe a dozen out of a population of 30K to 40K) may be killed during the operation, but honey extraction is not a massacre.

BTW, harvesting fruits and vegetables can and does result in the destruction of insects, including bees.

Honey isn't vegan because it is produced by an animal, just like milk and eggs.

22. No, they don't
but they do seem to eat fruit and other plants pollinated by domesticated bees.

I knew one vegan who wouldn't own anything with shellac on it, either.

29. Not a Pure Vegan
I know people who are somewhere between just vegetarian and pure vegan who eat honey but still are pure vegetarians...don't eat cheese or at least not cheese with rennet, etc., no gelatin products, ergo no Altoids...<g> No death of an animal but who will still use animal products... I am closest to pure vegan but have fallen on occasion when honey was involved. "On occasion" probably means less than once every five years and would NEVER include an indulgence that kills an animal.

...and I too don't kill insects. I escort them from my home in a net, including roaches. We simply have no right. See my sig.
