My boss + collapsible police baton + me + dark alley= bliss
Edited on Sun Mar-04-07 04:28 AM by RummyTheDummy
If I had but one wish, I would wish for this scenario to come true. I work for the most ego-maniacal POS shit you could possiblly imagine. Mind games and fear are his calling card.

A year ago, I thought I had landed a dream job. Instead, it has turned out to be a House of Horrors like nobody could imagine. End of rant.

1. that is a dream scenario
my boss rules by fiat through fear and condescension

my dream scenario for her involves a can of gasoline, a lighter and a pack of flame-resistant wolverines

5. It is interesting isn't it....

Obviously we would never make these scnerios reality, but it is fun to think about. I always treat co-workers with kindness. In the rare instances i've been in a position of power that didn't change. I wonder what it is about people that twists their heads into thinking they are above others who only want to do their jobs quietly, without abuse. It's an interesting human dynamic. For instance, in another circumstance my boss could easily be Idi Amin or Joseph Stalin. The personality type is there. I think it all stems from his father leaving the family when he was a child. There are clearly some dominance issues at play.

7. it's misery that twists their heads
and i try to be compassionate about what they might be suffering through, but it gets to the point that it's not my problem. they, however, do not hit that point and that's where that attitude comes in.

my boss has father issues as well. all the men in my department are treated like gold, while i (the only woman) am completely shit on. i just want people to stop working their parent issues out on me.

As many issues as I go through with this true inhuman POS, I can see where being a woman in a similar situation would be 10 X worse. Keep fighting sister!

10. I'm starting to push back too
THat started today. I think it evoked some shock because I had always been the Dudley Do Right guy in the dept. But I'm through. Little do these people know I have a temper that is unmatched and I'm not affraid to use it. NOBODY can scream louder than I can. Mr. Nice Guy is over. Like you said, use their actions to learn from them and turn their tactics back on them. Dignity matters!

11. dignity does matter
but that is easy for me to say with a gut full of liquid courage ;)

on a serious note, when it comes to these situations, i put a lot of stock in teddy roosevelt's words...walk softly and carry a big stick. never let the bastards know what is going to hit them.

14. the problem is
That people with power tend to be the kind of people who seek power. And, pretty much by definition, people who seek power are evil. When it comes to petty power (like management and supervisors in corporate america) this can be exponentially true.

I will concede that there are those out there in these positions who are both good at it and fair, decent human beings (my boss is one of them), but they are the exception and a small percentage of the whole.

12. I wonder what Jeff Gillooly is doing these days
he might be looking for work.

A picture of your boss crying "why me?" might brighten your workspace a little.
