Spoiler alert! (Scroll down for the rest)
. . . . . . . . , . . .
This was probably one of the most exciting and surprising UFCs of all time! 43-year-old Randy Couture defeated the 6'8" 265lb. much younger Tim Sylvia to win the World Heavyweight Title! :bounce: Couture dropped Sylvia with a punch in the first round and had him in position for a chokeout for almost all of round 1. It went the distance, and Couture completely dominated Sylvia for all 5 rounds, not only taking him down to the mat, but winning the striking game as well! (Sylvia is about 6 inches taller than Couture and is known as a striker, so this was very impressive) Just months after being destroyed by light-heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell and announcing his retirement, Couture comes back and dominates the heavyweight champion and wins the heavyweight title---at 43 years old! What an amazing night for the sport of MMA!
In the other matches, Matt Hughes won a decision over Chris Lytle, Rich Franklin stopped Jason McDonald when McDonald's corner threw in the towel after the second round, Marvin Kampman got the "submission of the night" by using a tight arm-triangle to defeat Drew McFedres. And in a big upset, Jason Lambert scored a TKO on Renato "Bobalu" Sobral. The light-heavy division is stacked!
