1. I slept in
and dreamed of the London Underground, where I met a lovely lady with long dark hair.

We sat on the seat of the horse drawn carriage and necked.

So, yeah, it'll do, as an alternative to church.

20. Well let's see
First I melted some gold down and made a big statue of a lamb. I then prayed to it and worshiped it. The neighbor's dog (which I covet) was barking and disturbing my worshiping so I went outside and shot the dog. I then killed my neighbor so he won't buy another dog. I didn't touch his wife because I covet her too. Plus, we have had an adulteress affair for years and I didn't want to throw some salt in my game.

I then stole the neighbor's lawnmower, but I stubbed my toe while doing it and yelled out "God dammit!!"

I used the lawnmower to cut my lawn even though it is Sunday and I shouldn't have been working. My parent's called to say hello and I told them that I don't honor them anymore and I hung up on them.

Right now I am getting ready to bear false witness against my neighbor..oo la la

85. Do eight person dinner parties really work. I find that six seems
to be the maximum for enjoyment by everybody.
When there's more the loud verbose person at the table
tends to take over. Then some don't participate.
What is your experience?

129. We had seven adults at the table, one five-year-old boy, and his sister, a 6-month old baby girl.

Seemed like a good number to me. They wrote us a beautiful email the next day thanking us for the little party.

You're probably asking the wrong person about party size, though. Oddly enough, I am quite uncomfortable at my own parties. I really don't enjoy people coming over to my home and am apprehensive that things just won't "jell" and people will judge me. It just takes so much out of me for no apparent reason. So in my life, I have rarely had a "great" time at dinner parties that I host. Luckily, this one was catered by a local Asian restaurant -- good food! My husband did most of the set up, while I did all of the clean up.

I am not a cook... always feel that I will miss something at the table... and there I am, frantic and sweaty in a hot kitchen. It's just kind of a phobia without a name (fear of parties that I host?), I guess. Otherwise, I am quite outgoing in all groups and thoroughly enjoy conversation, so that's not at the root of it.

I am an only child, my mother and father never entertained on any scale, and I just didn't get the warm fuzzy relaxed feeling about having people over to my home. Luckily, my husband understands and we do a lot of brunches and dinners with people at restaurants, etc. My children are excellent hosts and both are extremely good cooks, too, thank goodness.

Wish I were different! It must be great to be happy and relaxed while entertaining!

In peace,

Radio Lady

131. Radio Lady, thank you for your reply.....
I just consulted with my wife and she suffers from the same thing.
I suggest it is common and should be called hostingphobia or something.
Apparently the treatment is in the second glass of wine.
Maybe this makes you loosen up and everybody relaxes.
I also googled "how to host a dinner party" and lots popped up.
Probably worth a try.
Cheers

134. Good information! Glad to be of help.
I don't drink wine much -- beer is OK, but I am a woeful hostess with or without alcohol. Drinking just makes me dizzy and sleepy -- all guests would probably leave if I were to go upstairs to my bedroom for a nap!

135. The Phobia that Has No Name... some kind of a social phobia!
I'm an outgoing, personable, talkative radio show host. However, hosting my own dinner parties for any size group throws me into a tizzy.

I'm still looking for a name for this.

Obviously, it's some kind of a social phobia, but then again, I don't hate crowds and I don't mind conversation with strangers or friends and I don't mind mingling with others. I love being invited to SOMEONE else's dinner party. But mine? You will wait a dozen years for it. We will take you out to a restaurant, because I'm not a TOTAL boor?

So what is this called?

This congregation had no choir (or youth group, Sunday School, or...) for years. We're in a re-building phase, and doing fairly simple stuff. Yet our director finds good music nonetheless.

great space to sing in, but the congregation - man, talk about unfriendly.

Cold place, that. Even architecturally.

When I was in NYC I mostly went Episcopal. Loved St. John's and Smokie Mary's and the one just south of Union Square.

I've been to Riverside a couple of times, when I was in town for meetings at the Godbox. I didn't find it friendly, but I have a parishioner who lives part-time here, part-time there, and that's her NYC church. She loves it. I thought perhaps it had "friendlied-up" a bit.

I don't ask her to compare her two pastors in terms of preaching :)

I am now NOT in NYC.

And don't feel too bad about comparing with Forbes - I heard him deliver a real stinker. On Easter. 2004. It was awful.

Normally, though, he's damned great. His sermon at Prof. James Washington's funeral was fucking out of the world. I wish I could remember what he said, but I can't, but it was absolutely perfect.

64. I'm always glad to get out.
It turns out that the woman only wanted an "intimate encounter" which my friend found flattering, but uninteresting.

Pizza sounds so good. I'm going to make tacos tonight, but with store-bought shells. For some reason I'm fixated on food right now, so I had to hear about somebody else eating. :loveya:

75. LMAO!
I like a broad range of... foods. Yes, I love all different sorts of curry from the plain "British" to vindaloo or what have you. I also like food with heat - a lot. Basically, I like food except for raw bananas and anything with a very strong fishy flavor - although fish sauce in Thai food is excellent.

Edited on Sun Mar-04-07 04:00 PM by Scooter24
I had an early tennis match/breakfast at the country club with a friend who flew in yesterday. Then we went to the mall to pick up a few dress shirts, then on to the gayborhood for some window shopping and picked up some monogramed stationary. I then went and played some golf, followed by a light lunch at Hunky's and now I'm back here.

For the rest of the day- I am about to leave for my 345pm appt at the Spa, then afterwards meet up with the boyfriend for a movie. Then meet up with some other friends for dinner at Shogun's, then some after-dinner drinks at Cru.

our newly renovated bathroom, and also our bedroom. Construction was going on for weeks, and our house looks like a bomb went off in it, what with moving stuff from room to room to get it out of the way of the paint and tile guys, plumber, shower door installer, etc.

We are finally getting some semblance of order back. Hopefully by tonight, we can move our bed back to its normal spot, and I won't have to keep crawling over reprehensor in the middle of the night to pee (my side is up against the wall).
