I do love the fact that it goes to charity, but I don't find it to be the best tasting!

48. I love those two dressings, and they are my favorites.
For Caesar, I love Ken's Steakhouse Caesar dressing.

I also used a Newman's Own Ginger Teriyaki with pork chops (bone-in chops, seared in the frying pan, then simmered with a whole bottle of the dressing, served with white rice), and it was delicious.

51. Newman's is owned by the Kens Steakhouse Dressing people
I was the electrical superintendent for 2 years of expansion work in their factory.
They also make Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce.Very good sauce.I highly recommend it.
They also make dressings for a lot of chains, including McD's.
They have the cleanest plant of all the food plants I have ever worked in.You can eat off the floor there.Kens Foods takes sanitation very seriously. They even have their own waste water treatment plant to clean waste water that comes out of their processing instead of just dumping it into the county sewers.

7. for my everyday salads I use hazelnut oil and a good vinegar...
...along with generous salt and pepper, and a grating of Parmesano Reggiano. It's nutty and tart at once.

For something a little more special I usually make a classic Caesar dressing.

19. They do
But I gotta stick with the classic Hidden Valley. I also love a good Creamy Italian, but some are better than others. The ones in the bigger chain restaurants always have too much of a fake vinegar taste. I like the one at Outback.

One other: Im make a very light dijon and oil dressing to go over raw tomatoes that's just delicious.

13. Renee's
Roasted Garlic Caesar or Peppercorn Ranch. I first tried them because they were dairy and gluten free creamy dressings. They're more expensive than most, but much tastier.

President's Choice Toasted Sesame, Renee's Spring Herb Italian and Renee's Spanish Onion and Poppyseed are also favourites.

If Packrat Louie's (restaurant) bottled and sold their Saskatoon Berry Dressing, I would definitely be buying that. :9

I eat salad with most meals (sometimes even breakfast), hence the need for a lot of variety.

35. carambola - link:
The star fruit or carambola is a tropical fruit that is gaining popularity in the United States. This fruit acquired its name from the five pointed star shape when cut across the middle of the fruit. It has a waxy, golden yellow to green color skin with a complicated flavor combination that includes plums, pineapples, and lemons.

I don't mind most storebrand/generic stuff, but not salad dressing.

We even bought a gallon of the Pizza Hut Italian a few years ago - it lasted a LONG time - that is another reason I think it must be full of preservatives and other not-real-food chemicals.

42. Vinegar is a good naturual perservative anyway
Edited on Sun Mar-04-07 05:12 PM by Nikia
Which is why Italian and other dressings with a lot of vinegar last longer.
And if the oil in it is olive oil, that usually takes longer to turn rancid than some other oils.

44. true, but this stuff doesn't seperate or do that olive-oil thing when it gets cold
so for sure it must have emulsifiers in it at least. Still, it's pretty tasty, for corporate junk food.

46. Checking the Pizza Hut website
They actually use soybean oil, not olive oil. They do use MSG and a couple of perservatives. They use xanthan gum though as a thickner which is natuturual.
Looking on the back of my Wishbone Italian, they use fewer perservatives, just EDTA. My Wishbone Italian did clue me into the fact that our refrigerator might be set too cold. It got really thick.

I LOVE basalmic vinegar, I usually buy this ridiculously (being the only one in my house to use it) huge jug of it. I marinate meats in it, veggies, makes sauces and dressing, yum!

I hate lettuce (wierd, I know) but I make all salads with spinach, and there is just something about the flavor combination of spinach and basalmic vinegar that sends me over the moon!

Vinaigrette: Newman's Own Raspberry Walnut
Ranch: Hidden Valley Cracked Peppercorn for salads, Hidden Valley Ranch mix for dipping.
Blue Cheese: Marie's Chunky Blue Cheese
Italian: Seven Seas Viva Italian

They were out of Newman's Raspberry Vinaigrette last week so I picked up a bottle of the new Kraft's Organic Raspberry Vinaigrette. I've had it a couple of times now & it's better than I expected it to be.
