One hit wonders who you think deserved a better fate
Edited on Sun Mar-04-07 09:26 PM by mvd
Some of mine:

Merril Bainbridge ("Mouth" was kind of catchy in a quirky way, so I'm surprised it got such airplay. The rest of her The Garden CD is more singer/songwriter - gorgeous and fun)

Bree Sharp ("David Duchovny" is a good pop/rock song, but there is better on the stellar The Cheap And Evil Girl: the haunting "Fool's Gold," the folky "America" and "Walk Away," the portrait in the song "The Cheap And Evil Girl," the spunky "Guttermouth.." Speaking of Bree, her MySpace pictures reminded me of how good-looking she is! And she's a big environmentalist.)

Deep Blue Something ("Breakfast At Tiffany's" is so great in an R.E.M.-like way, but the rest is not radio friendly at all. Still, there's quality throughout.)

1. Not sure if Men At Work qualify, because technically
they had all of 2 hits, but they were a great band that didn't seem to stick around long enough. I also enjoyed Midnight Oil a lot too. I tend to enjoy a lot of Aussie bands and want to hear even more of them. We don't get to hear enough of them here in America, IMHO.

2. I still like to hear about a band like them
And maybe some oldies one hit wonders. I can't believe I just bought CDs from the marvelous Shangri-Las and Lou Christie (now THERE's a falsetto, Idol people,) but they are not one hit wonders.

6. BTW
I'm not saying Deep Blue Something doesn't have other catchy songs, but for some reason, the rest remind me more of today's indie-pop than some of the radio hits.

5. Marcy Playground
Sex and Candy was cute, but not as good as a lot of the other songs on the album. The second album was good too, but never got played.
