3. SPOILER (now less so -- removed name)

I'd be willing to lay a bet that she wakes up in a Cylon resurrection chamber sometime this season. That would fulfill both the 'prophecies' we were given this season that one member of the cast would die, and one would find out they were a Cylon.

6. Interesting (Spoiler)

That would totally explain Leobahn's knowledge of her conversations with her mom. It would also mean those were implanted memories, like in Bladerunner. Though I confess I'm getting confused with what objectively happened and what she was "hallucinating".

apparently Katee Sackhoff wasn't happy with how Starbuck was handled in Season 3. Not sure if she expected to get killed though....

I agree w/ their commentary on regarding the Kara-Lee soap opera.....boring and pointless.

5. Many questions ..... Spoiler

If they wanted to resurrect the character the writers have an out. She was in Cylon hands at one time and could have been modded to be made compatible with Cylon resurrection technology. Remember that raider only she could see? That could be the transfer booster. The Cylons would love to have a guide.

Leobahn urging her on had an eerie resonance to the (fracking excellent) Babylon 5 episode that had Kosh urging Sheridan to "jump" when he was on/in Z'ha'dum. He died too but it worked out in the end. :)

Then again, just like on B5, female characters we've grown to love really do sometimes get the axe. :(

10. Over on another site
At televisionwithoutpity.com, some people with Tivo are swearing that if you look at the frames just before the Viper blows up, you can see the Cylon raider, and the Viper cockpit taking on a weird glow. Thus opening the possibility that the Cylons grabbed Starbuck, she isn't physically dead, and will come back in the last seconds of the season ender to drive us all nuts during the hiatus.

A few of my other notes:
1. Could there be a connection between Starbuck having nightmares and Hera, the Cylon/human hybrid, also having nightmares?
2. The lines of the explosion of Starbuck's Viper match the squiggles Kara drew in the center of her version of the mandala. Don't know what that means.
3. Is it possible that Starbuck died, but Kara Thrace may survive? This mystical arguement hinges on the idea that the things that turned the child Kara into the woman Starbuck--anger, resentment, taste for danger and death--developed as reactions to her mother's emotional abuse. In her visions while dying in the cockpit, Starbuck dealt with her mother and let go of all of that. Thus the parts that were Starbuck are stripped away, and the soul of Kara, the innocent child, is renewed. Remember how the oracle told Starbuck that she was wrong about what her mother was trying to teach her, that she had confused the messenger with the message? Whatever happened over that planet may ultimately serve as a kind of psychological reset switch, wiping out the mistakes that created Starbuck. Kara could not live and fulfill her mysterious destiny as long as her "identity as a steely eyed viper pilot" exsisted.

Or I could just be overthinking it all.

11. Excellent thinking
Thinking about your post and I have to believe the conclusions you make from your observations are ones the writers were hoping alert viewers would come to. Naturally, a show like this likes to mess with us by way of occasional red herrings but that takes nothing away from your alert observations.

Many thanks for the food for the thought.

Lol, btw, I happen to currently have the TWOP forum thread for this episode open to page twelve. Your post has me looking forward for the speculation that should be up ahead. :)

7. More Info
Gilles Nuytens: You had long hair during all your life but you had to cut it for the show, how did you react when you learned that you had to cut it and how was it to get it back, even if it was a wig, in the last episode of season 2?

Katee Sackhoff: I know this sounds so ridiculous... but I cried when they cut it. Grace and I were sharing a room at boot camp and I got up in the middle of the night to see if I could still put it back in these twisty bobby pin things I used to do. I barely could with so much hairspray I couldn't stand too close to flame! Lol It was great to have it back for a little while in season 2 and 3. All I will say is I will never cut it again for Battlestar...

9. Totally OT on Sackhoff
Edited on Mon Mar-05-07 08:41 AM by Patiod
The first time I saw her on the show, I told S.O. "I bet she was a swimmer - her physique, the way she moves - that's swimmer chick all over."

Looked her up on the internets, and damned if she didn't swim competitively until she was sidelined by a knee injury.

Good to see another former swim chick representin' (well, until now)

12. I am annoyed
They've been going out of their way to make Starbuck an unattractive character.
If she turns out to have been a Cylon all along the Colonial Fleet is so infiltrated that they might as well just join up with the Cylons.
If the Cylons have come up with a Starbuck model based on their study of her at the Breeding farm, who in the Fleet will accept her?
It's true they're producing surprises. The trouble is that the surprises are starting to suck.
I love this series, but I can see it getting ready for a shark jump.
Perhaps they need to bring in the Dirk Benedict to re create the original Starbuck that this one at first appeared to be modeled upon.
