Frozen Mango Chunks and an Out Of Control Appetite.
Edited on Mon Mar-05-07 12:27 AM by Cobalt Violet
I ate a whole bag of frozen mango chunks(16oz.). I only meant to take a small bowl. I ended up refilling and refilling until I ate the whole thing. 270 calories isn't so bad but really didn't need to eat a whole bag of mango chunks. I wouldn't starved if I didn't eat a whole bag of mango chunks. Three servings of mango chunks. If I had another bag of mango chunks I would eat them too.
I couldn't stop.

What should I do about my appetite?

1. Could it be hormonal appetite?
I get just ravenous during my moon time.

3. It could be I suppose.
I do sometimes have a tendency to eat when I'm not hungry. I never really paid much attention to it following any kind of a cycle. I'll have to see about that.

At least it sounds healthier than potato chips.

4. It's after midnight here.
I'm safe for another night. The stores are all closed.

They were very tasty. Sweet but not sweetened. I use to like sorbet but I didn't want to eat all the sugar they put in it. So I like to buy just unsweetened frozen fruit and eat it frozen or slightly thawed. But I still want to eat the whole thing just like I always wanted to eat the whole pint of sorbet.

5. At least mango is incredibly nutritious. Not a bad thing with which to stuff yourself.
I find myself eating like that sometimes too. One thing that helps is to start writing down everything you eat. It forces you to stop and think before you put something in your mouth ("Am I going to feel like writing this down later, will it seem worth eating?"). Also, cut up veggies like carrots, cucumber or similar things that offer crunch and serve the need to munch but have very few calories.

But ultimately, don't beat yourself up. Mango is full of fiber and beta carotene. If you're going to pig out it's an excellent option.

6. Writing things down is very good.
I tracked everything I ate on fitday.com for a month or so to see what I was or wasn't getting in my diet. It's a great tool. When I try to lose weight it helps me see how quick calories add up. And your right, it makes me think before I eat when I'm tracking my diet. I tend to underestimate when I don't write it down.

I love snacking on raw baby carrots and raw sugar snap peas. I'm trying not to eat any sugars or syrups.
