You may be right...
but I'll bet Philip stole it from his cat! :D

2. Interesting
She seems to be associating her keystrokes with the sound and trying to figure out where it's coming from.

Methinks critters have more smarts than we often give them credit for.

4. I've had cats that walked across the keys...
but never one that sat at the stool and used two paws like this one. I wonder if she's mimicking her owner...

8. Dunno
Isn't mimicry kind of against cats' nature?

9. Did you see the "cats talking" thread earlier this week?
It sure sounds like a cat saying "hello" to me!

10. I think that was coincidence
Far as I know, only a few species of bird have the capability to reproduce sound.

Damn. I'm takin' all the fun out of this.

11. I'm not sure of that.
I noticed that one of my cats, at mealtime, says "okay" when I'm nearby. After I noticed, I realized that "okay" is the last thing I say before I feed them.

I've also had cats that figured out how to open the cabinet where I keep their catnip, by watching me do it.

Not all my cats have exhibited mimicry; but some of them have.

Lucy does seem to emulate me in a way that's most gratifying: she watches Monty Python. :7

13. I had a student whose cat would watch sumo wrestling with him.
That was the only thing the cat would watch on TV. When the match was over, the cat would get up and leave the room.

19. Isn't it though?
Most of my cats walked the keys at one time or another. One of them really seemed to enjoy it as a daily routine. But I've never had one that seemed so fascinated by the sounds they were making.

One of my cats is a player too, she walks back and forth across the keys when it's dinner time. But this cat has a totally different style, it's much more dedicated I think.
