Vocabulary used in dealing with my cat...
"Stop. It. Now!"

"Down!"

"NO!"

"Quit it!"

"TipperSTOP"

"GET DOWN!!!111!"

"TIPPER!!11111!!!!111"

I feel like Goldie Hawn in the movie "Overboard", babbling incoherently...buh bub buh bub bub buh....

She's almost 7 months old now much bigger than this pic...and much crazier.

1. If doesn't work, try something else
What about distracting her from her harmful habits with sweet words, like come here, darling? Or if she scratches, what about holding her paws, with claws retracted and saying, that's so much better, Tipper.
You can't use that tone with dogs because you have to show you're the alpha but I think sweet talking works with cats.

3. She's so beautiful!
:loveya:

My Oops responds pretty well to "no!" and "down!" but when he forgets, I just show him the spray bottle. Water works wonders, doesn't hurt and they pick it up quickly.

4. Trying blinking slowly.
We had a thread about that recently. It's like Morse Code and it says, "I love you".

5. you need tough love. I have two words for you:
squirt gun.

Yes, it sounds mean, but it's instant, does no harm, and gets their attention. I don't have to use it often, but it works.

Another thing is to give them something else to keep busy with. I built my kitties a 5' tall cat tree with carpet and sisal and feathers and such to play with and scratch, and the new one doesn't scratch other stuff (much) any more. The old one is too lazy to be destructive...

11. they sure do! And the dog and bird have learned as well
what's funny is, if I pick up the squirt gun, even while just cleaning or whatever, they all freeze with guilty looks on their faces. I imagine if they had fingers they would point at at each other in a "HE DID IT!" kind of way.

On the bright side, I don't need to use it very often.

"Blah, blah blah blah Tipper!" "Blah, blah, blah Tipper!" and on and on.

15. That's what the dog hears

Can't find an image of the cat one, but the second panel had a totally empty speech balloon.
