I saw "Intervention" last night and something is bothering me
There was a girl that was molested as a child and was suffering from self mutilation. After she got out of the treatment center she moved into a complex called "A sober place home". Now she doesn't have a chemical dependency she has a mental health issue (I know chemical dependencies are mental health issues) so why would they send her to a drug rehab halfway house to live after she was released, isn't there somewhere else for her to go? Or maybe I'm having a problem with the cannotation of the name of the place.

1. Because they do not have any other place to put her
The court system does this all the time with people. Send them to drug rehab, even though their problem is not drugs.

Since Reagan kicked everyone out of the psychiatric hospitals in the 1980s, there is just no place for people to go (other than AA and drug rehab) to get help. It does not matter a whit that it is more than likely the wrong help, it is "help" and that makes "them" feel good.

3. No kidding.
Nothing like having tens of thousands of totally underserved people taking up resources earmarked for another tens of thousands of underserved people.

13. When he was Governor, he slashed the number of welfare recipients...

...I, too, am at a loss as to the reason for his popularity let alone, his "status" as American icon...
...Then again, the dweeb in the White House, that silver-spooned poster child for the dangers of in-breeding, is perceived as a "Good Ol' Boy"...

4. Yeah ain't this country great?
We'd rather build prisons than mental-health facilities. Like conservatives expect us to believe the mass-warehousing of people doesn't cost a shitload of $$$. Some of those inmates incarcerated would be better served in a mental-health facility. But oh my god those touchy-feely social programs endorsed by the lefties don't make any money for the political cronies of the gop.

6. Oh yeah, because you can have untrained apes work as "Security Guards"
or you can have nurses aid/orderly that needs more training and speacilization to treat the mentally ill. But you see they don't pay into campaign coffers.

14. Besides, only Godless Heathens believe in Mental Illness...
... all True Believers know that so-called "mental illness" is, in fact, Demonic Possession, the proper treatment for which is Exorcism...

5. Maybe It Is a Dual Diagnosis Place
and they were treating her self mutilation issue as an addiction?

I know not what show you refer to so I really can't speak to it.

7. I hope it was
Not some place where they have a vague idea how to handle someone that suffers from self mutilation.

12. They give a lot of those places
really crappy names. I'm sure they are meant to be inspiring, but half the time they are cheezy and lame. It would be better not to euphamise such a huge stepping stone in their recovery. I hope she overcomes her issues.
