People are morons.
Right now there's a raging abortion debate in GD, and the pro-choice people are trying to base their argument on the fact that pregnancy is inherently life-threatening. The death rate from pregnancy for the last 20 years has been 7.5 per 100,000, including deaths from botched abortions.

Pregnancy is three times more dangerous than chickenpox, but about 1/3 as deadly as measles.

If you're going to base an argument on risk, get some damn perspective please. :P

and other agencies & university systems (their the best cause it's mostly just flat research data)...numbers are seen by too many in this current admin as being rather fungible, if you catch my drift = as you say = i have a dream, make those little numbers of yours fit my dream or you're fired!

12. That's why people start wringing their hands when a train falls off the rails
and say, "oh our railways are in such a state, somebody should do something" and then happily get in their cars, which is a mode of transport oooh, I dunno, a million times riskier. (I may exaggerate).

The actual maternal death rate in the US is 17 per 100,000 births (WHO), or more than twice what someone has been posting.

17. Oh, honey. People are....just people. That is truth to tell.
The best way I understand it is to listen to country music. I'm more of a left brained liberal thinker(not an oxymoron), the best way way I understand these folks is to listen to country music. There is truth in it. And a lot of pain. The religion and the family things are huge. We can't use "rational thinking" to reach them. This is a very emotional, a very "spiritual" thing for them. I know...this is so weird. They want to be so Republican.

Many of them just don't want to work all that well with facts. Some do ...others ... not so much.

Things would be ever so much better if we were all on the same page, but we aren't. So, same old...same old. We need a better strategy. As a rule, we, as liberals, have been independent, that is our nature. Now, it is better that we come together. That will be a hurdle. I am working on leaping the hurdle.

The true enemy is not conservatism, it is authoritarianism.
