When color TV came out, why did they put in a disclaimer before the show started,
that it was in color?

When TV came out, nobody spoke the line "You can see this presentation!"

1. A "Disclaimer??2??" As I recall, it was to advertise they
were broadcasting in color. Or in "living color", whatever that means.

2. Oh, so it was only an advertisement...
Either way, all the folks in B&W-land probably appreciated the announcement. :D

5. same reason they advertise that something is HD
If you have HD, you know it, if you don't have HD, it is irrelevant.

"IN STEREO"

As I sat there 4" from my 5" B&W Sony with the tin speaker in it... I clearly remember
the profound thought...

SO?

7. They were bragging
Color television required a lot more of the broadcaster.
Putting out the color signal brought them into the Space Age.
There had been color TV before the 60s, but it was frightfully expensive.
As for myself, I became the proud owner of my first (used) color TV in 1990.
