Engagement rings....
Does anyone have any confidence in the Kimberly Process?
I certainly don't, but I don't know much about the subject....sooo I'll stick to emeralds.
Input from those more knowledgeable appreciated.

1. No, I don't trust it
That's what I think that, except for heirloom diamonds, people should pick another stone. ANY stone. War, blood, etc. -- all for a damned piece of carbon that is very, very far from rare -- De Beers runs a bloody scam.

3. I don't trust Kimberly.
I've pretty much decided that, if the issue should arise again (not really expecting it to, tho), I'd rather have another stone--though I've been told some other gems have similar issues--or a manufactured diamond. The only problem with a manufactured diamond is that, in the circles in which I run, I'd have to keep explaining to everyone that it isn't a natural stone.

But no, I don't trust the Kimberly process.

6. be careful...Emeralds are soft stones and have to be cleaned
a certain way...

However the synthetic emeralds..(sometimes just as expensive) may not be so fussy.

I am one of those women who wears my rings all the time...so you want a good setting if your gal will do the same.

7. here is a link about stones
http://www.avantijewelers.com/facts/care.htm

it lists how to care for the stones..

I wanted an emerald but after finding out that it wasn't a good stone to wear all the time (I garden, clean..etc with my rings on)...I decided against it.

17. I have an emerald
that my mom bought me years ago. I've worn it every day, and yes, it is shot to tell, but I still love it.

8. You can always opt for a Canadian Diamond
Canada has become a leading diamond nation.

Polar Bear diamonds are engraved with a polar bear.

11. Well, you know...
Takes 120 days for divorce to be final, and another 6 months before I can get hitched again...

13. Uh huh...
After the house is sold. One less asset to have to worry about splitting.

Had first brokers open today, showings begin tomorrow.

Sold off my last 2 jukeboxes this week too.

Gotta unload all the baggage.

15. Thanks...
at 46 I deserve real happiness and am not willing to wait around for some semblence of suburban married contentment that may or may not be based on a lie.

Time to move on.

I thought someone was free and clear after the final decree of divorce. Must be a Wisconsin thing.
