Somebody here criticized me for being too harsh
with my kid - taking away his computer privileges because he got a bunch of B's and C's on his report card. I want you to know that he got a midterm progress report today... all A's. He's proud and so am I.

nananana boo boo. :P

1. good for you. You know, being strict is not a bad thing
but remember to encourage as well. My parents were fairly strict, and look at me: I'm a regular sinner hedonist "libral"

2. I'm strict but flexible, and I encourage like crazy
because my parents didn't. I'm raising three dirty libruls myself!

5. TOO HARSH?? I think you're too lenient.
Put him on a diet of bread and water till the grades start improving, and limit his tv access privileges to ESPN-12 (sports too boring for the 11 other ESPNs) and and...
yeah.
I'm a psycho.

6. sometimes it's good to mix it up
reward positive behavior instead of punishing unacceptable behavior. Kids get used to the punishment route so it's nice to surprise them with something that says..."hey, you are doing a great job, we are proud of you." You'll be surprised by the reaction.
just a thought.

7. It's a regular part of my routine, Katina.
Another thing my parents didn't do, so I choose to.

8. I'm glad
mine didn't do it either so we tried it and lo and behold.... it was effective. Sounds like you are doing a great job.
