I am so PROUD of my daughter, that I am crying!
As many of you know, my daughter got married this past Saturday. I just looked at her blog, and found out that she is donating her wedding gown to a place that supports breast cancer research:

http://www.makingmemories.org/brides_against_breast_cancer.html

My mother is a breast cancer survivor, and breast cancer research is something I have long supported and donated to. To see that my daughter is also doing that with her wedding gown just blows me away.

Baby girl, I love you!

1. That rocks!
You earned that pride, she sounds a lot like her mom!

I am not sure if you saw this thread of mine (regarding my friend's mastectomy yesterday).

4. Yes I did, and just posted in it.
It's funny; sometimes we as parents wonder if we have any impact, especially positive impact, on our children, and then we find out that we DO!

15. What a great thing to do!
I hadn't heard of that before. A gown that was part of a young woman's dream of her wedding day has not one, but two more valuable uses, and maybe even more if the next bride donates it.
Your mom will be proud, too.

16. Isn't this a wonderful thing?
I have the pictures, I have the memory of my daughter's wedding day. That her dress can be passed on in the name of something that is so important to me makes it even for special!

My daughter asked me if I wanted to let my mom know, or if she should. I asked her to let her grandmother know; I think she will appreciate it even more.

Sometimes we don't realize that what values we try to teach our young ones actually sticks.

You did a great job!!

that she wasn't going to keep it, which I wasn't aware of until yesterday. I think it's so cool what she's doing.

Her memories of that dress will always be far more than just sentiment because of her donation.

You deserve to be proud of her!

27. That's very cool.
I'm seriously considering doing the 3-day breast cancer walk down in San Diego this coming November, walking 60 miles over 3 days with thousands of others. It's a pretty big commitment: raise a bunch of money, training time, etc...but it's for a good cause, so that's compelling. My cousins are trying to talk me into joining them.

Have you ever done it?
