Could be that I'm just surrounded by dumbasses but I know a lot of people who don't know who Valerie Plame is, don't know who Scooter is and haven't got a clue what this case is all about let alone the implications. These aren't dumb people. They read the paper (or maybe they just do the comics and the soduku?), they watch the news, WTF is going on?

1. Ask them about the status of the hair on the head of the burned out pop icon.
I bet you will get the proper answer in seconds. Get them to find Iraq on a map. That might take them their 15 minutes(of fame).

Whether inside or outside DU, people don't have the time nor the inclination to find out what is happening in the world. They have been raised on a steady diet of sensationalism that passes for news and this has been going on for years. In my opinion, there is a very anti-intellectual bias in this country. If you don't believe me, ask 10 people what their astrological sign is, then ask them their blood type. I'll bet the number who know their sign will far outweigh those who know their blood type.

3. I think the problem is being selfish...
People don't care about others in this country (or world) anymore.. Fuck it, I have my big SUV, Digital cable, and God. Fuck you, I have mine.

4. No clue in general. Overheard in the office yesterday . . .
"Did something happen at Walter Reed?" :eyes:
