Woman Arrested For Trying To Sell Panda Skin

BEIJING -- A woman from southern China is being investigated for trying to sell panda fur.

Police said the 60-year-old woman was arrested last month while bringing the giant panda skin to a potential buyer.

The woman told officers that she bought the pelt for $5,000 and planned to sell it for $39,000, according to the Beijing News.

It's not the first time the woman has run into trouble with animal fur. She has been investigated before for trying to pass off a red panda pelt as that of a giant panda.

The newspaper said a search of her home uncovered another skin that appeared to be from a giant panda, but was really black and white dog fur sewn together to look like panda skin.
