Home made exfoliants...
Post 'em if you've got 'em. I'm out of the one that I usually get and I can't get any more for a few days and I really, really need exfoliating.

Do they work well?

No olive oil, though.

Doesn't the sugar get sticky?

7. That I have...
proportions? I know I sound like an idiot and I could probably look up a thousand 'recipes'...but I'd rather use one that someone I'm familiar with has experience with. After all...I can cover my ass if I gain weight -- I can cover my hair if I fuck that up -- my face kinda hangs out there and it ain't getting any younger and errors in skin care won't be as easily hidden or repaired any more.

:scared:

13. Here's one that I've used. Put raw oatmeal in the blender and
whiz it until it is quite fine. Then you can either moisten it with water to form a paste and rub it onto your skin with your fingertips in a gentle circular motion. Rinse with cool water. You could also add the oatmeal powder to a little of your regular facial cleanser, if you pleased.

I also made a facial scrub by blending oatmeal and dried rose petals in the blender and using is as above. I really liked that one.

29. I don't have access to the book that explained it right now, but I
believe it acts as an astringent and toner. I have dry skin and this just made my face feel wonderful. I haven't made any in quite while, but I might have to whip up a batch this weekend. It seems like I used 4 parts oatmeal to 1 part rose petals for this, but like I said, I don't have the book handy right now.

19. ASPIRIN. Easy and fast.
Take two plain old uncoated generic aspirin tablets, grind them up, mix the powder with a little bit of water, and apply to your face. Leave on 2-5-10 minutes (depending on your skin sensitivity), then rinse. Aspirin contains salicylic acid, an effective exfoliant. This can be drying to your skin, so tread cautiously.

If you want to get all spa-like, then try making a facial mask using green clay, ground oatmeal, two aspirin, geranium or lavender oil, and egg yolk.

23. Easy and fast is good...
My skin does tend to be a little sensitive, so I usually do tread cautiously -- which is why I've always been hesitant to just go in the kitchen and experiment.

Thanks!!

It has alpha hydroxy acids - also very effective.

28. Whatever exfolliant you decide on...
follow up by rinsing your face with some lukewarm tea (chamomille is best, but any tea will work). It's an excellent toner and will leave your skin soft and clean.
