VIRGINIA Man Sentenced For Taking Upskirt Photos Of 11 Year Old Girls At Fair

ROANOKE, Va. - A man who took "upskirt" photos of two girls waiting for a carnival ride at a county fair was sentenced to one year in jail.

Howard Neil Wray, 50, who pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful filming of a minor, was ordered Wednesday to serve one year of a six-year sentence.

The incident occurred in June 2006 while the two girls, both 11, were standing on an elevated ramp waiting to go on a ride at the Salem Fair.

Two police officers working security at the fair approached Wray after they saw him holding a digital camera at his waist-level and "panning the camera left and right," Salem prosecutor Marshall Deaton Harrell said.

His camera contained still images of the girls as well as video, she said.

Wray told police he had been having "woman troubles" and "had come to the fair in order to take up-skirt photographs of females at the fair," Harrell told the court.

"I would like to say that I am very sorry for any trouble that I have caused anyone over this," Wray said in Roanoke Circuit Court.

Harrell said Thursday the Rocky Mount man was prosecuted under a 2005 Virginia law.

Only the trial was in Roanoke. The crime was in Salem and the guy was from Rocky Mount down in Franklin County. Roanoke and Salem don't mix. Roanokers only go to Salem if they need to go to an antique store and I can't think of a reason a Roanoker would ever need to go to Rocky Mount for. Well maybe for some moonshine but that's usually out in the woods somewhere. :hi:
