I'm liking this Adrien Brody guy.

And not just because he's got me questioning. He lights up the screen every time he's on. Just saying.

1. He deserved the Best Actor Oscar for "The Pianist"
Deserved it. One of the best performances on screen I've seen in a while.

Funny you should post that still from "Hollywoodland". I saw that last weekend. Excellent film.

Adrian Brody is talented, sexy and does indeed light up the screen.

2. Yeah, I just watched it last night.
That's why I'm posting.

Loved the setting too. They kind of over did it in L.A. Confidential, I thought. This movie was great.

3. It looks like he's going to be young Spock
In the new Star Trek movie.

He's got that chops and looks a bit like Nimoy. He should be good in that role.

4. I think he looked great in the film. BTW,
my sister, who is Jewish, watched it recently with me. After about an hour she jumped up and left the room, saying that the atrocities portrayed in the film were totally "over the top." I'm not saying she's right; I just thought it was interesting she thought so.

Even I knew he shouldn't have worn the German overcoat out to greet his liberators.

6. Seen it.
Was he the punk?

Damn, I thought that was a great performance. Didn't realize it was him.

7. Yep. That was him.

John Legizamo (I know I spelled it wrong) was kick-ass in that film, too.

8. He has a wonderfully expressive face...
It makes me wish silent films were still being made.

9. He starred in a tiny indie flick called "Bread and Roses"
It's based on the SEIU "Justice for Janitors" campaign a few years ago, and it's REALLY good--deals with issues of labor and immigration. Wingnuts'll hate it, though. ;-)

11. Another rec -- "Dummy"
He plays a shy, awkward twentysomething who lives with his parents (and older sister) who loses his job and decides to become a ventriloquist. Milla Jovovich is equally great as his wannabe punk rocker best friend.

13. OMG, I know....I'm SO excited they're finally making that into a movie!
It's my favorite of all of Garcia-Marquez's novels.

18. I'd like to see him play Danny Kaye...
...in a film bio. Kaye was such a complex, tortured figure all his life. The book "Nobody's Fool" by Martin Gottfried is a warts and all look at "The Lives" of Danny Kaye. Brody has the range to do the comedy and dramatic sides of the story.

19. He's one of my absolute favorites...
I've yet to see him take on a role that he didn't nail perfectly...

There's something cute about him, too... can't quite put my finger on it, though.

21. Oh yes he is adorable.
Check him out as a total sleaseball with a hot bod (in a snakeskin pimp coat!) in "Love the Hard Way".

It was filmed in NYC the winter of 2000-2001, before The Pianist, and released later. You can see the Twin Towers in it.

The Brode Rocks!

22. Reminds me of Jeff Goldblum or Liam Neeson. Ugly as a newborn vulture
but with an honest confidence and sincerity that makes him nice to look at. That's my read, anyway. He's one of my favorite rising actors lately.
