Great Children's Book: The Invention of Hugo Cabret

At first, my 8 year old didn't think he'd like this book, because it's so huge (over 500 pages), and the pictures are all in black and white. I convinced him to give it a chance, and started reading it to him before bed; and now he can't get enough of it! He keeps asking questions about Georges Méliès, and silent films. He was rapt with delight when I found this online version of "Le Voyage Dans La Lune": http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2872403246769762863&q=a+trip+to+the+moon

And now there's talk of Scorcese doing a movie version of the book. Check it out! :D

4. If your local library has a copy, I'd recommend the hardbound...

just because the pictures tell a good deal of the story.

Amazon sells it for about $15.

7. That is a really cool book. It's sort of like a movie

and a graphic novel, and a traditional book all at once. A Scorsese movie of that would be awesome!
