DU Computer people, help me out here...
Weird-ish question...How would a web address that I've never visited end up in my address bar cache-thingy? I know for a fact that I've never been there, and my laptop is password protected, so noone got on it while I was asleep or away, or whatever. I did import my bookmarks from Firefox on the PC to the Mac last weekend, but I didn't think that could make that happen. Any ideas?

2. Well, I'm on a Mac, and haven't downloaded anything
other than files from my professors (Word, Excel).

The thing is, someone in my house does visit that site, but has never been on my computer, to my knowledge. :wtf:

4. The auto-fill option on Macs will read from a history cache or a bookmarks file.
If the address is in one of the imported bookmarks file, it would auto-fill like you seem to be saying.

6. Yes, but it wouldn't show up in her cache unless the site had actually been visited
The address might auto complete in the address bar, but unless Bi clicked "Go," it wouldn't show up.

Bicentennial Baby, have you asked the other people in the house if they had used your computer? The fact that somebody there visits the site makes me suspicious that it may have been one of them.

BTW, there is a nice little maintenance program called Yasu that will clear out all the history and cache and everything and make your Mac run a lot quicker.

7. From her description, it sounded to me like just an address bar auto-fill.
I guess I didn't get from her info that it was the site cache but rather just an address filling in on the bar.

10. That's what I understood too
But my version of Firefox doesn't autofill the address bar unless the site is in recent cache or history. It doesn't autofill from the bookmarks the way that Safari does. Or am I wrong?

11. Oh, I see what you're saying.
I noticed that she had imported bookmarks from Firefox, but I didn't make the connection that she's still using Firefox. I was speaking only from my knowledge of Safari.

:hi:

9. There is only one person who may have
and they can't access this computer...But, I looked at my imported bookmarks, and when I typed one from there into the address bar that had never been entered before, it auto-filled. So, I guess problem/mystery resolved! :)
