Black and white-I think it's from the silent era (possibly german). But in it, there's this one key scene where these dancers are seen by a character while they're off on a hill in the distance (kind of look like there doing ring around the roses). hard to describe, but it's actually beautifully shot, very moody.

I've seen this scene parodied in various cartoons and it turns up in film history docs.

what's this film? i can't, for the life of me, remember

1. Is it "Seventh Seal" by Ingmar Bergman?
IIRC, the scene you remember is the Danse Macabre.

that's the one
not quite as old as I thought, nor is it german, but that's the scene.
kind of odd, because a friend of mine was just trying to defend the second bill and ted film by telling me it was a play on this one.

anyway, adding on netflix now.

5. Yeah, Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey is a pretty obvious spoof if you've seen The Seventh Seal.
Great film. (The Seventh Seal, I mean, though Bill and Ted = hilarious.)
