Has anyone here ever flown LOT, the Polish Airline?

Is it true that when you're on the tarmac, waiting for take-off LOT sends a ground crew out to wind the aircraft's rubber band?? Do you get issued a leather helmet and flying goggles, or do you have to pay extra for those?

1. Is this a serious question?

If it is, I have flown Lot. It was actually a fairly pleasant experience and was as efficiently run if not more so than the domestic flights I've taken over the past few years. Although in fairness my wife, daughter, and I were in Business class because we used frequent flyer miles. So I can't speak for how things were back in coach but they didn't look any worse than any other flight I've been on.

3. I went to Poland on LOT this year...

and things were just fine in coach-class. Agree w/your overall impression: LOT stacks up more-favorably, next to US domestic carriers. No problems.

Now, Aeroflot to Russia (in '91) was a whole different story! ;)

I have a Polish heritage and find that funny. Also, don't forget the screen windows on the plane.

We have shipped cargo on LOT and they are OK.
