3. Those particular people are full-time employees who've been there forever
and have more sick time in the bank than most would know what to do with.

Having been a freelancer for most of the past 10 years, I wouldn't slam a contractor who comes in because they, as you say, have no choice. That I can understand, and I agree with you.

4. Could It Be That They've Been There Forever...
precisely because they are such slaves to the wheel? IMO attendance and punctuality at work are highly overrated.

5. one of the biggest pet peeves I have....
People that come in to work sick should be hung up for two days by their toes in a desert, well maybe not that harsh.

6. Some people have to go to work sick.
Some jobs don't have sick days or vacation days.

7. See post #3 above
Full-time employees with tons of sick time banked in better not show up if they're sick. Contractors - if one day out of the office means not eating, well, that's a different story.

9. I agree.
To have so much sick time stored up is insane to me.

8. My boss has thousands of hours accumulated
but she'll still bring in her stinky cooties and infect me. I'm immunocompromised but since she's so freaking important in her own mind that the earth would cease to spin if she's not here, she infects me.
