That was out in the field, he is really tiny, small as a fist. To get a good perspective that is a grain of oat he is sitting next to. Their mama's will leave them in a spot, and they will stay there till she comes back, and wont move unless they are in danger, so I was able to get a good picture.

54. I have an HP pc hooked up to a cable modem

The Linksys router comes with software, and it says not to hook anything up until I let the software do its setup. So, I run the setup, and it keeps telling me that it can't find my LAN, and to enable it. When I check the LAN settings, it says that it's enabled. I tried disabling it, and then re-enabling it, but nothing seems to work.

Ideas?

first of all, you dont need that software to set up the router.

What you need to do is connect the router to the modem (with an ethernet cable), and your mac (with an ethernet cable) to the router.

then open safari and type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar, that should take you to the routers admin page.

if it doesnt, let me know here by reply and we will go from there.

Once you are in there, you can enable the wireless in your router, and secure it, I suggest using WPA, because it is both more secure and easier than typing in a 26 digit hex key.

If you do this, and you cant connect, shut everything off and restart them in this order, waiting 3 minutes inbetween each startup.

Modem, router, computer.

Did all of that, did the restarts, still says I'm not connected to the internet. Arrrgh...Of course, my Airport w/ my neighbor's wireless signal works just peachy once I unplug the Mac from the Router...

When it's off, the Network page says "Location: Automatic", "Show: Built in Ethernet", and has my IP addy, Subnet mask, Router. It has tabs for TCP/IP, PPPoE, Appletalk, Proxies, Ethernet.

Turn it off and shut down everything on the network.. Wait a couple of minutes and bring every thing back up. I had a similar problem and this worked. That was with a wired network. YMMV. I also had a Linksys router.

I used Transmit for a while.. Cyberduck works well and is free. So I switched. For a long time I used Terminal.app for FTP. That got really tedious when I started working with Ruby on Rails.
