So the rule is, dishes in the sink are OK if they're his
The day after I was perumptorily asked to not leave dishes in the sink, I find a sinkful of dishes.

Got it.

2. My husband thinks if he leaves a dish by the sink and not in the sink
then that means the dish can still be used by him later in the day (say a drinking cup). If there is a dish by the sink, I throw it in with the dirty dishes! Jeez! Rinse it and do something else with it. Do NOT leave it by the sink!!!

3. What's wrong with that?
I'm with your husband, I don't see why I can't leave a water glass on the counter for a few hours - why wash dishes over and over when they're not really dirty? However, my wife grabs everything and washes it before I turn around... (Of course, I never have to wash dishes, so I'm not actually complaining about not getting to reuse a glass; I just find it odd.)

14. I was thinking of having a couple of glasses for each person etched with their initials
I use the same one all day (rinsing between uses for anything except water), and try to get my husband and son to do the same. I'm also going to get some teaspoons- we always run out of those first!

5. In our house, the dishwasher is right next to the sink....
Mrs. WCGreen will rinse the dishes off but somehow can't find it in her heart to put them in the dishwasher...

I am beginning to think she hates the Easter Bunny....

9. Mr. LIW is the same way -
He puts his dishes next to the sink, inches from the dishwasher. Why not open the dishwasher and stick the dishes in? I don't get it!

Of course, this is the same man who would wash a sinkful of dirty dishes by hand rather than take on the odious task of unloading a clean dishwasher so that it could wash the sinkful of dirty dishes. I don't mind that he'll wash the dishes by hand, but he really must hate unloading the dishwasher.

11. Maybe he was brutally attacked by a dishwasher when he was
young...

There are legends of rouge dishwashers preying on suburban youngsters...

10. I have finally pursuaded my husband........
to put his dishes in the dishwasher!

It is rather disconcerting, to say the least, after so many years!
