A BEAUTY pageant for married women, held in southern Russia, has produced scenes of goat-giving hilarity that would make even Borat blush.

Held yesterday in Sochi, the Mrs World contest - which gives aged and married beauty queens a chance to put their twirling talents and snappy question answering to good use - was won by a beaming, brunette Mrs America – Dianne Tucker.

Aware of the Chechen marriage custom of redeeming the bride, the Kenyan contestant, Caroline Verkaik, asked for money for redemption.

Acting Chechen president, Ramzan Kadyrov, went away but soon appeared with two horses, a white goat and a couple of hens.

Mrs Verkaik was so surprised that she hugged the president and promised to be back next year.

“Good guy!” the mother of four said.

Acting President Kadyrov was so overwhelmed by the ladies’ beauty that he proposed to Mrs Verkaik - apparently ignoring the "Mrs" in her title - and gave her a goat, as well as a few other inhabitants of his home zoo.

Chechen officials said the visit of the world’s most beautiful women demonstrated much-needed lasting peace.

Ramzan Kadyrov’s private jet took Mrs World finalists from Moscow to an airport in Ingushetia.

The contestants were then taken to Gudermes in Chechnya.

The world’s most beautiful married women were welcomed with huge bunches of roses, a splendid dinner in Gudermes’s best restaurant and a folk dance concert in the capital of Grozny.

The contestants were staying in the acting president’s residence in Gudermes.
