My credit card company made an error of £1086.66 in my favour.
I got my statement, and they had refunded the fraudulent payments that had been made on my account, just as they said they would. But they had refunded waaaay more than the fraudulent transactions took out - over a grand more.

I called them up and told them about it. I had a fair bit of trouble getting the guy to believe me, actually. It feels weird - I might have got away with it, but knowing my luck if I'd splurged it they would then have asked for it back. Plus, I just can't help being super honest when it comes to money. It's my nature.

I bet you all think I am fucking weird.

5. Same Thing Happened To Me.........

........last year. Difference is that my bank quickly took back the difference with no questions. Here's what I find disturbing: When I purchase something on VISA, it can take up to three days for the transaction to show up (I do all my banking on-line). But when the bank made an error in my favour, they corrected it in fifteen minutes! Odd, I tell you.......

7. Oh yeah
I also noticed they don't pay you interest when they owe you. ;)

On the whole though the credit card company has been very decent to me over all this.

8. Something similar here
One of my clients overpaid me by $6000 :wow: (from a clearly typed invoice, no less). Repaying it caused me some hardship (banks suck!), but keeping it was out of the question, even though they're a huge company and probably wouldn't have noticed anything.

I was kind of cool to hold a check for 10 grand for a couple of days...

Should've tried to squeeze a better interest rate out of the company at the same time. Unless that's extortion or something, LOL. (Like they don't extort us.)

10. I had already squeezed 12% APR out of them before
They wanted to raise my rate and it was high before, so I told them I'd cancel the agreement instead. They dropped the rate instead. :7

11. Good for you
Cap One still has my 8 year old "first card" at its original interest and credit line. Then they wonder why I don't use it. Duh. 20 percent and $500, not a good deal. I could call them to get that fixed I guess but if they can't take the initiative to see my score has, uh, improved over 8 years (hooray 0 percent car loan!) I don't want their business.

12. That was VERY foolish!
You could have bought me something really nice with that money.

You did the right thing. I think it's the measure of a man who will stand up and let the world know how honest he actually is.

14. Good form, Mr. Skank...
Is never anything to be ashamed of having.

In the end the evil Credit company probably would've turned around and called it a 'loan', then
they would've started charging some outrageous finance charges on said 'loan'.

It's best to try to keep even.

Nah, I guess not. Only if they said, hey we're so impressed by your honesty, you can keep the money, would I have enjoyed it.

Maybe I was secretly fantasising that they would say that.

Of course they wouldn't, corporations don't think like that.

You KNOW you'd have been found out and probably on the same day your apartment was burgled and you'd lost your job. :P
