I had a major, loud and insulting argument with a freeper last night.

if a guy walks away from a pretty woman? We've got to change their minds, not just tell them that they're fu$%ing a$$holidiots. 'loud and insulting' sound more like a fight than an argument. We need them to vote for D's, not just get mad or told off. He ran away from the argument, but is still gonna vote for the bad guys more than likely. It got less civil when, after claiming to hate people who had money, he told me that George Bush was good for the economy. You can imagine where that discussion went. Then he told me that we were on the same wavelength, but speaking a different language. That's when I started to laugh and that's when he left.

110. good for you! I was in a loud discussion with a Fox Propaganda victim on Friday night

unfortunately it was my father in law, but he was the one being loud.

It makes me sad because he spouts off talking points even if they don't match is own philosophies, such as ranting about the War on Christmas and Easter even though he is an atheist.

He says things which I swear were discredited a long time ago and which always take me by surprise that anyone still believes them, such as that the Dems who voted for the war had the same intel that Bush had even though the intel was forged and doctored by Bush's people.

He generally is a nice guy who can get along with anyone, yet he said he can't trust Muslims because "they hate our freedoms" and that every Muslim is taught to hate Americans. I asked him what the solution is then: if there is an inherent flaw in Islam which makes them all terrorists, does that mean he wishes to exterminate them all? Of course he had no answer, and this was especially "funny" as we had earlier been discussing how German citizens could have let the Nazi party get away with everything. Even funnier is, my sister in law asked him if he even knew any Muslim people, and he said he did not. So... to this crowd, it's ok to HATE them because they hate us? How does that make him any different/better than them?

Sadly, I don't think he got any of it, so eventually I just got tired of him screaming FOX points and went out on the porch for a smokey-treat.

I love the man, and I know he's a good guy, but he's too stubborn to ever admit any error or that he was fooled by FOX/Bush/etc. He still calls up to try to score points on a 4 month old global warming debate we had. Seriously. And every time he calls, it's something that I have an answer for (THANK YOU, DU!) such as Gore's house or carbon credits or martian warming, etc. But it gets so frustrating. On the bright side, I think my sister-in-law is happy to have someone else on her side when these discussions happen. Her sister/my wife tends to just stay out of it.
