1. It doesn't change in Switzerland until March 25.
I was _extremely_ confused when I woke up this morning and found that the time on my laptop hadn't changed. x(

2. Yeah, it's rough when they insist on doing it the right way
Lucky you're not in America, where it's SNAFU (Situation Normal- All F**ked Up) on a daily basis.

3. I got an earful about that very thing from my mom the other day.
I haven't heard Mom that riled up since I hauled off and married a furiner. :7

4. Well, the time is something people feel very strongly about.
I read once that shortly after the introduction of DST, the Department of Agriculture got a letter from a farmer complaining that the extra hour of sunlight every day was cracking the paint on his house, so he wanted compensation. I think the DOA had the letter framed on a wall for many years.

6. You've gotta be kidding.
Was it also making his corn grow too quickly?

7. LOL. It's one of those stories...
...that's probably apocryphal, but might not be. It's just the kind of so-stupid-its-almost-smart idea that someone somewhere must have come up with sometime.

8. You mean, like when the copy machine is about to run out of paper,
and someone in the office suggests just making 500 copies of the last remaining blank sheet of paper? So-stupid-it's-smart like that?

9. Exactly!
Or the person who thinks the fax machine isn't working because it keeps spitting out the original document, instead of somehow magically dicing it up and sending it down the phoneline (someone actually asked me this, years ago).

10. The copy paper scenario
actually happened in a newsroom in which I once worked. When I inquired, "Do you know how a copier actually works?" my colleague stormed off in a huff, muttering, "You don't have to be so pissy. I was just trying to save us a trip to Wal-Mart." :eyes:

11. That is priceless.
I probably would have needed oxygen, I'd have been laughing so hard. They should have been grateful you let them off so lightly. That kind of idiocy deserves a full page ad in a national paper.

13. It's pretty difficult for me to criticize other people's stupidity,
when I was the editor who penned the most awful headline ever: "Drug and alcohol speaker on tap."

14. I like it.
It would certainly make me read the article!

Anyway, laughing at the stupidity of others is the only sure way of temporarily forgetting about our own. The feeling of superiority is so fleeting, that it can't do much harm to indulge in a small gloat. Besides, it feels so good.

15. That's not an awful headline
It's pure synchronicity.

16. Our publisher,
who was in recovery, found it "somewhat insensitive." :yoiks:

5. The worst part is that Daylight Saving Time ends on November 4th
I always liked it when we turned the clocks back on or just before Halloween so that it got dark earlier and kids could start trick-or-treating in the dark at 6:00.

12. Those were the good ol' days, weren't they?
It seems like, when I was a kid, we had just enough time after school to change into our Halloween costumes and eat dinner before hitting the streets. x(
