1. After working weekends in the PACU (recovery room) for a couple of years
I am not a fan of ATV's or motorcycles.

That is all.

2. Hear, hear
I agree. I also have a perverse desire to see this turn into a discussion about the merits of ATVs.

4. Alas, I'm not sure how many ATV fans are on this site or awake
I'm sure they're fun but I've never wanted to ride one and of course they add senseless noise and erosion problems to natural areas.

16. Okay. I own an ATV. I don't own a helmet yet. However, WTF was a NINE-YEAR-OLD doing on an ATV?
Those things are fast and dangerous. They are not for kids.

I know it's bad that I don't have a helmet, but god, a kid should especially have a helmet.

I know what you mean about revealing stuff on the internets though. Doesn't hurt to be careful.

7. I hate it when I see kids riding around here without their helmets.
I know there are some who think it's silly over-protection, but a bike helmet saved my life. I raced at the time, but this was just a casual ride around the neighborhood. I'll never ride without one again, and neither will my kids.

9. Not just the kids
I'll even wear one if I'm jogging on a narrow road w/ a lot of traffic.

A little protection never hurts.

14. Most of the kids in my neighborhood don't wear helmuts
I think they consider it to be uncool.

18. Several years ago, a dad riding his child's scooter crashed
and hit his head on the curb and died.

You can bet my kids wore helmets. It was heartbreaking.

17. I agree with you on that and I own an ATV.
It's one thing if a teenager is on one, but not little kids.

They're dangerous.

19. Yes they are...
even the smaller ATV's...

helmets need to be worn on lots of things that I never wore a helmet on growing up.

A good brain basket beats having brains splattered around for no reason any day!
