I am a proud mom this morning

Last night eyesroll's SO stopped over, and after visiting the loo stopped by my 6 year olds room for a chat. Somehow the subject of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (of whom J is a strong proponent) came up. Hedges and I just rolled our eyes, as Ruby's been getting proselytized to on a regular basis at school by her friend. The friend has told her if she doesn't pray (to God, Jesus AND "The Lord" ) she's a bad person, blah blah blah. We assumed she'd just reiterate the stuff the friend had told her. Due to that we recently bought her a big beautiful kids book about evolution. I know she'd looked through it but we haven't really sat down together and gone over anything in it yet.

This morning, she tells me "J thinks the Flying Spaghetti made the world and everything, but I told him he was wrong. I told him I read in my book that clouds and gasses and stuff made everything." I asked her "What would you say if (the friend) tells you God made everything?" She said "I'll just tell her the same thing. She just thinks that because she doesn't know what I do."

Yes. I am pleased. :)

5. We found it at Half-Price books

It's just a Time Life book called "Evolution of Life". I'm not sure it's in print anymore as I can't seem to find it online...it's really well done though. There are tons of them out there geared toward kids. :thumbsup:

We still laugh about the time when I was explaining very basic human evolution to my son who was maybe four at the time. I told him that our ancestors had lived in trees. He said: "You mean like Gramma?" :rofl:

The week of Ash Wednesday, NoelMN told me, "hey Mom, did you know God died, yesterday?"
The whole commemoration of the crucifixion and all that confused the crap out of him. He thought Jesus and God were the same thing, and that Jesus has been trucking around, until recently. I guess he and I need to discuss religion a bit more.

they're talking about. They just repeat what their parents say...
