1. Marti Jones "Follow You All Over the World" should have been a hit
I haven't checked to see if it's on YouTube. Her Unsophisticated Time album was a few years ahead of its time. (No pun intended). I still don't know exactly why she isn't famous. If someone could explain it to me I'd greatly appreciate it.

2. Oh, I have a bunch...
Unfortunately, I can't seem to do a YouTube search at the moment, as it's blocked at work, and the proxy seems to be on the fritz. Anyway:

"I Can't Get You On My Mind" - Adam Schmitt (early 90s power pop at its finest...Rundgren-esque in the sense that he played everything but the drums)

"Stephen's Exhibition" - Stuart Davis (the post-apocalyptic folk-punk monk...one of the finest singer-songwriters ever...this song wouldn't get much airplay though, as it's about a guy who has sex with his friend's wife while the friend paints it)

"If I Can't Change Your Mind" and "Believe What You're Saying" - Sugar (Bob Mould) (if there was any justice in the world, Bob Mould would be headlining stadium shows...these songs show a completely different side of Mould than what he displayed in Husker Du)

3. GENESIS
Artist: Genesis
Song: I'D Rather Be You
Album:
<" " CD>

1986. Released as B-side of single "Throwing It All Away", 1987.

Ooh yeah
You know I never wanted to be closer
And I'll still be here until it's over
No, no I never wanted to be closer
But you'll be back, I could've told you

Well I always knew
Yes I could see it coming
Your ambitious streak
You always want things beyond your reach
Well now you've got what you wanted
And you're free to be the things
You always said you'd be
You're up there looking down
Tell me what do you see - oh

Cos you know
You know I never wanted to be closer
And I'll still be here until it's over
No, no I never wanted to be closer
Yeah, but you'll be back, I could've told you

Well it seems to me
That you've got to fight for yourself
In this world we live in
It's dog-eat-dog and never give in
Why worry when you're holding the aces
Don't throw it away cos you know
I'd rather be you than me
Up there looking down
Tell me what do you see - oh

hey hey yeah

Ooh yeah
You know I never wanted to be closer (never wanted)
And I'll still be here 'til it's over
No, no I never wanted to be closer (never wanted)
Ooh but you'll be back, I could've told you

It's been a long time coming
But at last we seem to be moving on, straight ahead
We're finally getting something done
Time flies and 'fore you know it
You'll be getting closer to where
You always knew you'd be
Up there looking down
Tell me what do you see - oh

Cos you know
No, no I never wanted to be closer (never wanted)
I'll still be here until it's over
No, you know I never wanted to be closer (never wanted)
Yeah but you'll be back, I could've told you

hey hey yeah...

4. "Look Out, Here Comes Tomorrow" by the Monkees
Written by Neil Diamond. If it were recorded today by a sufficiently cool group, it would be a hit.

6. I'm guessing lots of people have heard that song
In fact I'm pretty sure it's on the Monkees Greatest Hits album. But I could be wrong.

10. It's not on the Greatest Hits album I have
But, then, the Greatest Hits album I have is on vinyl. But it's a great song nonetheless! And no one's covered it since then, that I know.

28. Then I have the wrong collection!
I LOVE that song! It was one of the best things they ever did!

Do you also have "What Am I Doin' Hangin' 'Round"? That's a Mike Nesmith classic that I also don't have on my Greatest Hits LP from 1979.

Also, I couldn't find videos of them, but include "From Hell To Paradise" and "What A Crying Shame."

11. I found an acoustic of Raul singing "From Hell To Paradise"...
but I wanted to show the album versions of both of those songs.

Both From Hell To Paradise and What A Crying Shame are on Mavericks albums of the same names, and they also both appear on the Mavericks' Super Colossal Smash Hits of the 90s.

The first time I heard the Mavericks was when the CD single for "What A Crying Shame" crossed my desk at WYTE in 1993.

22. No kidding!
I went on a personal crusade to break them in Wisconsin radio, and I persuaded our sales director to hire them for a summer '94 festival we sponsored. What a fantastic show that was!

15. "Fait Accompli" by Curve
For the life of me, I will never understand how this band never "made it". They have such a tight sound. I've always equated them with a more talented, less popish version of Garbage.
