and they were talking about how a lot of the kids who got into NHS cheated their way in! Does this sound like it could be true?
My son, who is a freshman has even stated that a lot of the juniors cheat all the time.

I was just so shocked to 'overhear' this. Kids are funny, if they don't think you are listening they will spill their complete guts.

The rest of my classes, not that I know of. Probably there was. I wasn't into the getting good grades thing, except for when I gloated about beating the valedictorian on some Euro AP test. I cared more about my extracurricular stuff.
