1. Pretty babies--but I love ALL cats anyhow...
They look like orange mackerel tabbies to me--but I'm no breeder of show cats so what do I know anyway?

I dunno--my kitties have always been rescue kitties and I can't say I've EVER gone looking for a "breed" of cat. The breeder's operation they describe in the article doesn't sound too nice to me--but my cat is upstairs sleeping on the bed right now so I'm the wrong one to talk, I guess. I think kitties should be at large in the house rather than in buildings behind wire--ya know?

I hope they are healthy and loved.

5. That woman is not a licensed animal breeder and her facility is not inspected.
Go get a nice cat from a shelter and let her get what's coming to her legally.

6. Yup. At this time of year especially.
The shelters will be filled to bursting with kittens soon.

7. There's a bill out here to mandate spay/neuter
and require fees (that would go toward funding low income s/n programs) from breeders for maintaining intact animals. I'm all for that, and I'm hoping the rules for breeders to get exemptions will be very strict, we have way too many people using animals as ATM machines and very few of them are meeting the minimal existing legal requirements.

8. Fucking son of a bitch!
Why the fuck are they breeding yet ANOTHER breed that will, and you know this will happen, be abandoned when they grow out of their "cuteness"?

I wonder how many genetic diseases these cats will have?

I really hate breeders, its just wrong.

10. I know breeding to get a desired "type" has gone on for a long time
but the term "designer pet" really turns my stomach. I pick my kitties by personality, not looks(rather, they pick me, which is even better). I can't imagine saying, "Give me the x colored one, it goes with my decor."
