Another update on me

I had my bone marrow biopsy. They gave me heroic levels of meds to knock me out - it didn't. In fact, I got dressed and walked to the parking garage (hubby was driving). After I got home, I zoned out all afternoon. I'm pretty sure my adrenaline levels override the wimpy stuff they use (I'm not naming names, but its initials are Versed).

I showed the tech and nurse a couple of magic tricks and told a couple of jokes. The nurse said, "You must be a fun grandma". Huh?

The doc said to make an appointment for 2-3 weeks. Then we'd talk about results. Well, Friday I got a call from his nurse - I was working in a conference room surrounded by a faraday cage - so she had to leave a message on my cell. She said the doc wants to see me ASAP this week.

I called this morning and the soonest I can get in is the 28th. I think I'll pull a Pickles and take Xanax until then.

23. I talked to the nurse this morning

She's slept since then and couldn't even remember what she wanted to tell me. I kind of jogged her memory and she said he wanted me in there and that his appts were filling up fast. Must be, because now I have to wait 2 weeks. I'm supposed to be on a cancellation waiting list, but I don't trust the person responsible for that.

30. I had a friend in a similar situation, she just went to the MD office and

pretended that she thought she had an appointment that day...they worked her in without any trouble, and she was able to avoid the two week wait.

The 28th? That's not ASAP. That is the 2 - 3 weeks your doctor originally suggested. The last thing you need is this added worry.
I don't think I would trust the woman in the office to know what she was talking about. (during either call) I would probably call back for an better explanation. (or have someone call for me)

43. Well, I emailed the doc

He got back to me the next day and the tests aren't complete. The preliminary results are that I have evil plasma partying in my bone marrow. They won't get the full report for a few days and he said he'd email it to me. That will be some comfort, good or bad. Then I can barrage him with questions when I go in. :) :hug:

57. I had to go through radiation for cancer in early 2004, but

no chemo. But again, even if you have to do the chemo just know that it is killing the bad inside you and in the end it will work out.

56. That's the good thing about osteoporosis

It was easy to get into the bone! The more meds they gave me
the madder I got. My adrenaline overrides all that stuff.
After heroic doses of versed and fentenyl, I got up, got
dressed and walked to the parking garage. Once I got home,
I relaxed and zoned out.

Seriously. Call back and tell them the doc said ASA fucking P, which last time you checked does not mean two fucking weeks from now. Don't let the appointment secretary run your life and ration your health care. Insist on being seen this week or next. Aggressive patients get better health care--wimpy ones get treated like crap. Been there, done that.
