DU Girly Girls (and anyone else who cares): Avalon Organics skin care is amazing!
:bounce: :woohoo: I had bought some Avalon Organics lavender skin care products a couple of months ago and had not used them yet (I was trying unsuccessfully to use up other products I had.. :P). About a week ago, I tried the Lavender Facial Serum and then on Saturday, I started using the Lavender Moisturizer. OMG!!! I love both of them!!! :loveya: The serum smoothed out my skin and evened out the little lines near my eyes. :D

Damn, I love this stuff... :D

2. Never tried it but it sounds great.
"Facial Serum" sounds a little bit high-tech (and pricely, lol) but I bet it's great stuff. :hi:

4. It's not as pricey as dept. store stuff, but it's not drugstore price either.
I paid $15.99 for the serum at the local Earth Fare store. :)

6. I worked at the first Earthfare that ever opened
Wow. That is so neat you mentioned that, it's bringing back memories. There was a tiny little health food store on Broadway street called "Dinner for the Earth" that was open for about 15 years. In 1994 they opened a great big grocery type store and changed the name to "Earthfare". I worked there for a couple of years. I actually had the best health (and dental) insurance at that place that I have ever had, believe it or not. I left in '96 when they still only had two stores but I think they have them in Greenville, one in Charlotte and soon to open another one. I think they have one in Athens as well. I didn't even know they had one in your area. They might have one in Knoxville too. I read recently that Whole Foods has merged with a store called "Wild Oats" (I think), so that is going to be major competition for them. Actually, I wish I had never left that job, but being a health food store it was filled top to bottom with wildly iconoclastic, artistic and moody and unpredictiable people, which can be really exhausting day after day. (Sounds kind of like the lounge now that I think about it, lol.)

11. That's really cool, idg!
:hi: I usually go to the one in Greensboro. I actually like it better than Whole Foods, because it's smaller and nicer.

18. I've never been in a Whole Foods
Blasphemy, I know, lol. Earthfare is the only chain I have been in like that. I have been in the one in Charleston too. I guess now with the merger Whole Foods will be the Walmart of health food stores now. I wouldn't mind working for Earthfare again, I was a baker for them for two years and I loved it, but at that time all the bakeries started making all the dough/batter in bulk and freezing it, or ordering it in big batches from other places, and the need for bakers in places like that really declined. It sucks, because I enjoyed that job more than just about any job I've ever had.

15. I don't know you
and this is the first time I have ever seen you;

but, my wife used to shop at "Dinner for the Rich" on Broadway...and very much remembers (and shopped at) the first "Earthscare."

;)

She lived on Murdock off of Kimberly in the house right beside the empty lot that belongs to the Jewish Temple.

That was years ago.

Your post brought back some serious memories.

17. "Dinner for the Rich"...
Rolfmao...wow, that really brings back some serios memories. I haven't heard that expression in probably a decade.

I haven't been in that area of town in ages. I remember Kimberly avenue because we used to walk there an awful lot, it's a really nice neighborhood that a lot of people would go walking in.

"Earthscare" I have never heard. I will say that the man who managed it at the time I worked for was somewhat scary, and not terribly well-liked. I moved to South Carolina later on and he was opening an Earthfare several streets over and he came in our store with an assistant and was dictating prices to the assistant to write down and our manager had him thrown out of the store. (Even funnier since she used to work for him at one time). He wasn't so good for that place, but he's not associated with it anymore at all as far as I understand.

9. Earth Fare, Whole Foods, health food/natural food stores, and
some higher-end grocery stores are where I've seen it. Here's the website: www.avalonorganics.com.

Hope that helps! :)
