Babel "Anti-American"
Today I was talking to an old friend and his wife (Republicans). The subject of movies came up and I asked if they had seen Babel and his wife said she heard it was anti-American and wouldn't watch it. I said I didn't see where it was that much anti-American and where did she hear that. She said she thought it was either O'Riely or on Hannity. These are really good people and I have known her husband since before school but they are so brain-washed by Fox Noise they will not even watch a movie because some jackass like O'Liely said it was anti-American. I think Fox Noise must have subliminal subtitles or something that makes them close their minds to any opposing thought. A while back I said I liked the CSI series and he said he would not watch it because it was on CBS and they are too liberal.

1. Even if it were anti-American, does that preclude ever watching it?
Sometimes I watch shows or read books or articles with premises or viewpoints I disagree with. People who choose to expose themselves only to a narrow selection of art and information are shortchanging only themselves.

3. I'd have asked why they stopped thinking for themselves?
Maybe not in those terms, but I would have said something about watching and deciding for oneself being better than someone on TV deciding for you.

4. I have mentioned that they shouldn't watch Fox News
so much. They are like most of the Fox audience that is brain-washed into this "Fair and Balanced" BS and are convinced all other sources are liberal and they just close out all opinions that don't agree with Fox. They are old friends and I try not to offend them as hard as it is sometimes.
