I found it!!!!!
I finally got an offer on my house last week, which meant I could go house hunting. I have been wanting to live downtown in one of the small towns around here for years. The homes are amazing. Sooo....

I found this:

and I will have to eat top ramen every day, but I will be able to cook it in this kitchen:

and go up these stairs:

and relax in this backyard:

And so DUers, I am pleading for your help with some good vibes so that we can get this house!

1. Good vibes headed your way! That house is very nice.
I love the front porch. It desperately needs someone to sit on it in a rocker or a porch swing.

3. Thanks
I am giddy with excitement. There are several organic cafes and markets all just a couple of minutes WALK down the street.

I am hoping to be on that porch by June 1!

5. Sending the strongest
vibes I can your way!

This house looks great. And that backyard is something to swoon over. I too would like to move and am trying to muster up the courage to put my place on the market. Very stressful.

6. Thanks.
Listing our house was extremely stressful. We originally put an offer in on a house across the street from us in the development. It was turned down, even though it was full price, because it was contigent upon the sale of our property. In retrospect - I am soooo happy that it was turned down. This house is 5K more than the original offer, but I get 1000 more square feet, a real backyard and a quaint downtown!

Mucho white light to you so you nab it easily! And perhaps for less money than you fear!

Dang, that's a beauty (she says, still stinging from house-hunting hell 1 1/2 years ago...)

20. Gracias MorningGlow!
They have already lowered the price by 50k recently. I am hoping that I don't have to pay the asking price now, but I will if I have to....and eliminate cable tv, chinese food for lunch, anything and everything that I can to have THAT HOUSE!

BTW - sorry the house-hunting was hell.

27. May I ask where it is?
'S okay if you don't want to specify in public. I'm just nosy! Plus, I have this terrible habit of house-hunting/sniffing even when we're not trying to move. Kind of a hobby of mine. And I LUUURRRVE old houses.

We're now in our third house, and it's always been tough, because we don't have any money, so our purchases are always contingent on the sale of our previous house. This last adventure, though--wheeeeesh! It was a doozy. We got a bit of cash back--and our pride--by winning one small-claims suit and splitting the other (yes, we filed TWO cases, with TWO different potential buyers who backed out for different reasons), but the aggravation gave us many more gray hairs than either I or DH wanted at this stage of our lives.

Our present house is nice and old, just the way I like it, but it still needs a LOT of work. The one you've chosen, however, is just lovely as it is! And I LOVE that back yard! Wow! It's worth giving up Chinese food, I think!

30. It is in Cambridge, NY.
Now if any DUers go and snap it up I will blame you:P

The town is so cute too. http://www.cambridgenychamber.com/filmcambridge/aboutcambridge.html

Here are some more pics from the listing agent (be warned, not an easy site to navigate)
http://www.lreynoldsrealestate.com/imageSlideShow.cfm?PageNum_rsImageSlideShow=1&recordID=35

I just feel that I could not get a house that great for that kind of money where I currently live (about 30 miles away) and I will tolerate a commute, changing my daughter's school (although the schools are great, better than the private school where she is now) and anything I have to just to live in this cozy little town.

39. Aaaahhhh, Saratoga-ish!
Love the area! I've been to Pumpkin Hook somewhere along the way, but I can't recall when or for what...

Anyway, any potential theft blame duly noted! :P

Ooh and it's empty too--bonus! Love the other pics--a great mix of old and new in the house. Enjoy! :hi:

40. I see you are out in the western part of the state...
DH is out that way this week for business.

I don't know where/what Pumpkin Hook is...I will have to investigate further.

I am hoping that since it is empty, I can move my stuff in a little before the actual closing on my old house, so I don't have to do the close on one, move, close on the other in 1 day.
:hi:

41. Well, welcome to your DH!
Hope WNY is good to him. If he needs recommendations on where to nosh, let me know!

Pumpkin Hook is to the east of your new place--not sure how far, though. Gosh but I love that area. So picturesque--like your new house--classic Americana! :)

Yeah, if the sellers are all right with it (maybe sign a paper or something for protection from liability), you should be able to move some of your stuff in before you close. We wanted to do that with this house (it was a rental) but by the time the renters finally cleared out and the landlord finished filling a giant dumpster with junk (what a wreck this place was), it wasn't worth it--we just got a couple of storage spaces. But that was a pain--move stuff there, then move it out and into the new house.

It truly is spectacular. And since it is downtown, I can walk to the old opera house which is now an arts and community center:

I need this right now. We are so cramped in my house. I bought it when it was just little MB and me, and now we are three with the addition of Mr MB who is the size of a linebacker. He works out of the house and we desperately need the space.

I am feeling pretty good about it...
