Do you get to keep the old phone?

2. I do
I have the Verizon new every two thing - I get a new phone every 2 years. And yes, I keep the old one though I have no use for it.

3. I donated my old phone to a battered women's shelter
when I upgraded. The phone still worked to call 911.

6. I wish more people did this.
Old cell phones that still work are desperately needed. :(

Our office sent a bunch to a local program that distributes the phones to shelters. I think we're due to put together another box of old phones.

5. Worry more about the contract than the phone. When you make any
changes, most times, upgrading your cell phone will renew your contract. So if you're at the end of the contract, 2 year period for most, upgrading starts the clock all over again. ASK them if it renews or changes the contract length. You may want to change providers and you will be stuck with a big fee if you want to get out of a contract early. You bought the old phone, it's yours.
